The words I love you had changed everything.
Y/N couldn't stop thinking about them.
She had heard Jungkook say them before, in quieter ways—in the way he remembered little things, the way his hand searched for hers, the way he looked at her when he thought she wasn't watching.
But hearing him say it aloud had made it real.
And now she couldn't stop smiling.
Her phone buzzed.
Jungkook: Still awake?
Y/N: Yes.
Jungkook: Thinking?
She smiled.
Y/N: Maybe.
His reply appeared almost immediately.
Jungkook: About me?
Y/N: Don't get arrogant.
Jungkook: Too late.
A second message arrived.
Jungkook: Come downstairs.
She looked at the clock.
It was after midnight.
Y/N: Again?
Jungkook: Five minutes.
She laughed.
Y/N: You're impossible.
Jungkook: And you love me.
Her heart fluttered.
Y/N: Unfortunately.
Jungkook: I'll accept that.
When she reached the entrance, Jungkook was waiting.
The moment he saw her, his expression softened.
“You came.”
“You asked.”
“I keep doing that.”
“And I keep coming.”
He smiled.
“That might be my favorite thing about us.”
“What?”
“You always choose to come closer.”
Her teasing expression disappeared.
He stepped toward her.
“Did you miss me?”
She looked at him.
“I saw you earlier.”
“That wasn't my question.”
She smiled.
“Yes.”
He nodded.
“Good.”
“Did you miss me?”
“More than I should.”
She laughed.
“That's not an answer.”
“It is.”
He reached for her hand.
“Come with me.”
They walked through the quiet streets.
Neither spoke much.
Their hands remained intertwined.
Eventually, Y/N looked at him.
“Where are we going?”
“Somewhere.”
“Very informative.”
He smiled.
“You'll see.”
A few minutes later, they reached a small rooftop terrace overlooking the sleeping city.
There were no crowds.
No noise.
Just cool air and distant lights.
Y/N stared at the view.
“You remembered I liked this.”
“I remember everything about you.”
She turned toward him.
“Everything?”
“Almost.”
“Almost?”
He stepped closer.
“I haven't learned everything yet.”
Her heartbeat quickened.
“You have time.”
His eyes held hers.
“A lifetime?”
She smiled.
“If you're lucky.”
He laughed softly.
“Then I'm very lucky.”
They stood near the railing.
Y/N leaned against it.
Jungkook stood in front of her.
Neither spoke.
His gaze lingered on her face.
“You're staring.”
“I know.”
“Why?”
“Because I still can't believe you're going to be my wife.”
Her cheeks warmed.
“And I can't believe you're going to be my husband.”
He smiled.
“Say that again.”
“My husband.”
His smile grew.
“I like that.”
“You're going to become unbearable.”
“Probably.”
He moved closer.
Y/N didn't step away.
His hand gently touched her cheek.
“Can I?”
She nodded.
He kissed her.
Slowly.
The city lights blurred behind her.
His hand settled at her waist while hers rested against his chest.
The kiss lingered.
When they separated, their faces remained close.
“You're smiling,” he whispered.
“So are you.”
“I can't help it.”
She brushed her thumb along his cheek.
“I love you.”
He closed his eyes briefly.
Then kissed her forehead.
“Say it again.”
“I love you.”
He pulled her gently into his arms.
“I love you too.”
She rested against him.
His heartbeat was steady beneath her ear.
For a while, they simply stayed there.
Then Y/N lifted her head.
“You know what I like about you?”
“What?”
“You don't make me feel like I have to hurry.”
His expression softened.
“Never.”
“You make me want things without making me afraid of them.”
He brushed her hair away from her face.
“That's all I want.”
“What?”
“For you to feel safe enough to want what you want.”
Her eyes softened.
She leaned closer.
Their lips met again.
This kiss was more playful.
Y/N smiled against his lips.
He laughed quietly.
“What?”
“You're smiling while kissing me.”
“So are you.”
“Fair.”
She kissed him again.
He pulled her closer.
Their foreheads touched when they separated.
“You're trouble,” he whispered.
“You've said that before.”
“Because it's true.”
“And yet you keep coming back.”
“Every time.”
She smiled.
“Good.”
They sat together beneath the night sky.
Y/N leaned against his shoulder.
His fingers slowly traced patterns over the back of her hand.
“Jungkook?”
“Hmm?”
“What happens after the wedding?”
He thought for a moment.
“We wake up.”
She laughed.
“That's it?”
“No.”
He looked at her.
“We make breakfast.”
“You cook?”
“I told you.”
“I still don't believe you.”
He smiled.
“You'll find out.”
“And then?”
“We argue over music.”
“Definitely.”
“Then we probably annoy each other.”
“Definitely.”
“And at the end of the day…”
He took her hand.
“We come home.”
She smiled.
“Together.”
“Together.”
Y/N rested her head against him.
“I like that future.”
“So do I.”
It was almost two in the morning when they finally stood.
Jungkook walked her back.
At the entrance, neither wanted to say goodbye.
Y/N looked up at him.
“Why do goodbyes always feel harder now?”
“Because we're closer.”
She smiled.
“That's probably true.”
He gently touched her cheek.
“One more?”
She nodded.
Their lips met.
A slow, lingering kiss.
When they separated, Y/N remained close.
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
She turned toward the door.
Then stopped.
“Jungkook?”
He looked at her.
“I love you.”
His smile appeared.
“I love you too.”
She went inside.
He waited until the door closed.
And somewhere between midnight and morning, Y/N realized something.
The most intoxicating part of loving Jungkook wasn't the kisses.
It wasn't the teasing.
It wasn't even the anticipation of becoming his wife.
It was knowing that, every time she reached for him, he reached back.
And tomorrow, she knew, she'd probably want to do it all over again.
